The kitchen is often the heart of the home so it needs to be functional, as well as warm and inviting. Before beginning a kitchen remodeling project, do some research. Price appliances, cabinetry, and flooring, ask friends for references, and read magazines to help you prepare a realistic budget.

A Certified Kitchen Designer (CKD) can help you select cabinets, appliances and floor coverings that fall within your price range.

When selecting a design professional:

• Ask for references and visit their showroom or store, if possible.
• Involve the entire family in the process and discuss any special needs.
• Choose a designer that satisfies your taste and style most. You should not be persuaded to do anything you don’t like or that doesn’t fit your budget.
